Chinese pamphlets: Political communication and mass education in the early period of the People's Republic of China

Chinese pamphlets, picture books and other propaganda issued during the early years of the People’s Republic of China between 1947 and 1954. Unlike the high-end, made-for-export propaganda held by many Western libraries, this is the “street literature” of the revolution: the comic books, leaflets and other ephemera distributed to the population of the provincial cities and villages.

Slavery and Manumission Manuscripts of Timbuktu

From the Bibliothèque Commémorative Mama Haidara in Timbuktu, Mali, a collection of 19th century manuscripts relating to slavery and manumission in Timbuktu. The materials, in Arabic, provide documentation on Africans in slavery in Muslim societies.

Dziennik Zwiazkowy

Established in 1908 by the Polish National Alliance, Dziennik Zwiazkowy continues to be published today as the Polish Daily News. This database includes the first ten years (1908-1917) of publication, which represent local, national and international issues of utmost concern to the Polish community of Chicago at that time.

Digital South Asia Library (DSAL)

The Digital South Asia Library provides digital materials for reference and research on South Asia including books and journals, full-text dictionaries, bibliographies, images, maps, and statistical information from the colonial period through the present.

Digital Library for International Research (DLIR)

The Center has partnered with the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) to assist with the project administration of the Digital Library for International Research (formerly American Overseas Digital Library). DLIR is an initiative to provide bibliographic and full-text access to the varied resources of the CAORC-sponsored overseas research centers and allied partners in Europe, the Near and Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and West Africa, covering both print collections and research collections in other media.
